The meeting with Horticultural Training and Demonstration Center C class members
The Horticultural Training and Demonstration Center is conducting large-scale research to identify the needs and challenges faced by greenhouse farmers in the Imereti region.
The representatives of the Horticultural Training and Demonstration Center met with the greenhouse growers and inspected their greenhouses. The aforementioned farmers are members of the Horticultural Training and Demonstration Center C class.
"Greenhouses have huge development potential in the Imereti region, however, there are some challenges regarding the access to modern knowledge and technology, which ultimately holds up manufacturing of competitive, quality products. We aim to identify problems, and jointly with the agricultural professionals we offer our members training courses, which will be tailored to their needs and will include both practical and theoretical courses. Consequently, farmers will be able to gain knowledge, implement good agricultural practices and increase their incomes,” said Mr. David Lee, a member of the Executive Board of the Horticultural Training and Demonstration Center.
As of today, there are more than 20,000 small-scale greenhouse farmers in the Imereti region, and most of them produce agricultural products in low-tech greenhouses.
